Led by the young people closest to the problem.

Tewi started from a simple observation: the communities living with drought, land pressure, and shrinking cultural continuity are best placed to lead the response to it, not just receive it.

Who we are

Tanzania Eco Warriors Initiative is a non-profit organization led by youth, dedicated to creating positive change in communities by addressing pressing, on-the-ground problems: soil and food security, cultural continuity, climate risk, gender inequity, and conflict between people and wildlife.

We work across the pastoralist rangelands of Simanjiro District, Manyara Region, on the Maasai Steppe, through a grass roots movement built to serve this community first, and to hold lessons that can travel further.

How we work

Youth-led

Young people from these communities design and run the programs. We are not outside experts parachuting in for a season.

Community-rooted

Every initiative starts with what a community names as its own priority, not with a template brought from elsewhere.

Built to last

Small, repeatable interventions a community can keep running long after any single project cycle ends.

The team

Full team profiles are on their way. What matters most right now is what you see in the field: a small, local team spending most of its time in the communities it serves, not behind a desk.
